Thank you everybody! Continuing to make progress but I can't sit for long as my knee quickly stiffens up ... I keep managing to lay down and sleep though RollEyes , not that I mind that at all, as long as the brew appears every time I wake up!

I will be back with you all by the weekend ThumpUp

Love

Lyn xx

Hi Lyn,

well I'm totally out of the loop as usual as I've been a bit awol (to say the least) from the forum. I've been thinking of you though. I didn't realise you had had more surgery. Glad to read that you're over the worse now, hope you continue to recover well.

Will email you soon.

Much love

Hi Guys!

I paint a pretty picture! Sat here, left knee wrapped in a towel embedded with frozen peas raised up on a cushion and neatly fastened together with a stretchy bandage creatively tied into a bow! Beautiful!! Tongue This is the current regime, 15 minutes every hour for as many sessions as I can fit in!

The op. went well and I seemed to be making steady progress, Cyprus winked at me on the horizon. Over the weekend I had a few problems but wasn't quite sure why as I didn't think I'd done anything to cause so much pain. That was until it was time to leap from my comfy bed and start the day. Well the leaping certainly didn't happen, I couldn't move. Not only was my operated leg bad my whole b****y body was rigid, it just wouldn't work. A FLARE!!

I shouldn't be surprised as my Methotrexate was stopped due to the neutropenia (thankfully that has left me in peace) then I had to stop Enbrel two weeks before surgery (impairs wound healing) so all I was left with was 250mg x2 Naproxen and 3mg Prednisolone! I took the wise decision to increase the Naproxen to maximum a few weeks ago but it clearly wasn't enough to keep the RA at bay. I'm not prone to flares so this is something of a shock.

Me, being boring and sensible decided last week to make an appointment with my GP just in case things went wrong. Well much easier to cancel if you don't need it than it is to get one in an emergency!! Much better to be prepared. Tomorrow I have my stitches out so all I need do is to persuade nurse to get my appointment brought forward from Thursday. What do you reckon? Good chance? I then need to persuade GP I need Depo, he really doesn't like them, and maybe a temporary increase in the Pred. Hmm....

In the unlikely event miracles don't happen Cyprus will be fast disappearing beyond the horizon.Scared Eek ... no,no,no!

I'm back guys, but typing limited due to sore mitts. Thank you all so much for your good wishes. You're a fantastic bunch!

Love Lyn x

hi Lyn,

It's great to have you back ! We have missed you.
Sorry to hear about the flare, I hope you can get an earlier appointment with your GP and persuade him to give you a depo jab.
Just take the scissors with you and threaten to cut his hair if he won't give you the jab!LOL
Fingers crossed for your holiday.

Love and hugs, Doreen xx

I hope you get the depo, and will keep everything crossed for Cyprus.

Glad to hear you're back home, but sorry you're having a flare on top of everything else. That's all you need!

Hope you can persuade doc to give you depo, and Cyprus is still on the horizon.

Take care,
Lyn

I am pleased to read you are doing ok lyn, bearing in mind the malfunction of the body in various areas. You will always flair after operations in my experince and might be needing a depo and an increase in the pred.

I can understand the gp being warey of the depo when you are neutropenic but not now it is sorted (good news by the way!)

Much love Lyn

Well, the stitches are out so the knee is more comfortable. A very neat job and the wounds have healed really well ThumpUp

Couldn't change my doctor's appointment and he's not in tomorrow so will have to stick with Thursday. But at least I am resting with "frozen peas" for 15 minutes every hour and regular brews. In between I'm dosed up with painkillers and rubbing arnica gel (wonderful stuff!) onto bruised knee. Not a bad life ... 'til I try to move!!!

I do like my GP and understand to some extent his dislike of depos. He tends to be very money oriented and isn't into "temporary fixes" if they can be avoided. He much prefers to initiate longer term solutions but I'm sure he can persuaded otherwise when the need presents. He wouldn't like me to miss my holiday, it may require him to write a few letters! As for the scissors great idea but ... for his lack of hair!

I haven't flared before after an op. but this time almost all my meds had disappeared so not surprising really, just unexpected.
Cyprus still there, advancing by the day, I'm sure all will be well, I'm much more positive todaySmile

Thank you all; I'm still trying to catch up with everything!
